Mass Timber Construction
Mass Timber Construction -
Naturally Built. Healthy. Durable.
Natura Domicil builds with the Thoma Holz100 system, the world’s first and only glue-, metal-, and chemical-free mass timber building system from Austria. Developed by engineer Dr. Erwin Thoma, it combines the strengths of traditional timber construction with innovative construction technology. With a Holz100 mass timber home, you enjoy maximum living quality, longevity, and sustainability.
The Thoma Holz100 approach to building the healthiest and most durable houses worldwide has proven itself in over 3,500 projects across more than 30 countries, including residences, hotels, schools, hospitals, and office complexes.
Natura Domicil is the exclusive partner of Thoma Holz GmbH on the Balearic Islands.
Key Benefits
How the Thoma Holz100
System Stands Out?
The Thoma Holz100 system uses the natural properties of moon-phase wood and is built entirely without toxins. As a result, the mass timber walls do more than structural work: they regulate temperature and humidity at the highest standard, shield against noise, fire, and EMF exposure — all without extra insulation or chemical additives.
The Healthiest Home Today
Das zu 100 % pure wood radiates a warm, inviting atmosphere; it calms the mind, fosters relaxation and well-being, dampens noise, and provides healthy indoor air quality. Wood as a material is demonstrably the healthiest building material.
50-Year
Mold-Resistance
Thoma Holz100 guarantees 50 years of mold resistance, as moon-phase wood’s natural humidity-regulating properties significantly reduce the risk of mold growth.
Energy Independence (Made Possible)
The excellent insulation properties of untreated wood significantly reduce energy consumption and enable independence from external energy sources, potentially enabling off-grid living.
Durability and Value Retention
The Thoma Holz100 construction delivers a robust, long-lasting structure for decades. Low maintenance reduces life-cycle costs, and the high quality of the home helps it retain value (potentially increasing over time).
Moon-Phase Wood
Why Moon-Phase Wood for
Building a House?
Moon-phase wood is harvested at a specific time according to traditional forestry practices and dried for 1–2 years. This yields a particularly durable material with low shrinkage and high density. As a result, the wood is unusually stable and resistant to pests, giving it an exceptional lifespan.
- 100 % natural: No glue, no metals, no toxins
- High thermal mass: thanks to its unique heat storage capacity
- Safety: high load-bearing capacity in severe weather events
- Excellent sound insulation and protection against electromagnetic pollution (EMF)
- Transparent sustainability and a circular economy

Good to know
Holz100 is more than a construction system. It is a way of living.
A Holz100 home means:
- living in an environment that supports your natural biorhythm,
- breathing more freely – without emissions or synthetic materials,
- sleeping more peacefully thanks to walls that provide protection from radiation and noise,
- and reconnecting every day with the strength and vitality of trees.
Natura Domicil builds with conviction – for people who choose to live consciously.
What makes the Thoma Holz100 system so unique?
Wood is not just wood. When processed correctly, it becomes an exceptional building material: sustainable, energy-efficient, health-promoting – and deeply comforting. This is both the credo and the mission of Erwin Thoma, founder and inventor of Thoma Holz100, the world’s first and only solid wood construction system entirely free of glue and chemicals. His vision: to build the healthiest and at the same time most durable homes in the world.
Natura Domicil consistently builds with the Holz100 system because it is not only an outstanding branded product, but also an uncompromising commitment to the environment, quality, and human well-being. Choosing a Holz100 home is not simply choosing a building – it is choosing daily quality of life, inner calm, and a tangible connection to nature. A true home for generations.
What is Thoma Holz100?
Thoma Holz100 is a solid wood construction system free from glue and chemicals, developed in Austria by Thoma Holz GmbH under the leadership of Ing. Dr. Erwin Thoma. It is based on the principle of harnessing the natural properties of wood – and perfecting them through innovative engineering.
In collaboration with independent research institutes, solutions are created that set new standards for climate-friendly construction, exceptional living quality, and a healthy indoor environment. This makes Holz100 a future-proof system – high-performing, proven, and continuously evolving.
Where does the wood used for Thoma Holz100 come from?
The wood used for Thoma Holz100 comes exclusively from regional, sustainably managed forests at altitudes of around 800–900 metres above sea level. It is harvested in winter at the optimal time – during the waning moon – and then air-dried for approximately one and a half years. This careful process makes the wood more robust, durable, and naturally resistant to pests.
How does the building physics behind the system work?
The Holz100 system is a high-tech product of natureIt consists of multiple layers of solid wood stacked and cross-laminated, joined together using kiln-dried beechwood dowels – entirely without glue. The dowels swell within the surrounding wood layers, bonding the individual elements into a solid whole and creating a a permanently stable connection , much like branches within a tree.
Thanks to the layered arrangement forming a a closed structural force triangle , loads are distributed optimally. This purely mechanical connection is not only extremely durable, but also completely free of harmful substances – a milestone from both a building biology and ecological perspective.
HealthCare Architecture – Are healing spaces possible with Holz100?
So-called Healthcare Architecture deliberately relies on natural materials such as wood to create spaces of calm, safety, and well-being. Spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but that actively support healing. Today, moon-phase harvested wood is known for its hygienic properties and has been shown to help reduce even multi-resistant germs and bacteria . For this reason, Holz100 is approved and ideally suited for use in clinics, hotels, rehabilitation centers, and similar facilities where health, recovery, and comfort are paramount.
Healthy living, healthy life with Holz100
In a world that is becoming ever faster, more digital, more exposed to radiation, and increasingly overstimulating, the desire for retreat, calm, and genuine contact with nature is growing. Yet this is exactly what many people lack today – with noticeable consequences such as sleep disturbances, inner restlessness, and chronic stress. Experts are already speaking of a “nature deficit disorder”.
The good news: wood – and moon-phase wood in particular – can help.
Scientific studies show that living in solid wood homes has effects similar to those of regular walks in the forest: heart rate decreases, inflammatory processes are reduced, restorative sleep improves noticeably, and people feel a deep sense of comfort and protection.
The American biologist Edward O. Wilson called this phenomenon biophilia– our deeply rooted need to feel connected to the living world around us. Wood satisfies this need. It It calms, grounds, and supports mental well-being, helping to bring a piece of living nature back into our homes.
Solid wood is more than a building material. It is both an answer and a counterbalance in an over-digitalized world – a visual and sensory bridge to nature, whether in private homes, offices, or public buildings.

Wall Construction
Wall Construction — More Than Just Structural Support
Holz100 walls do more than carry loads: they regulate temperature and humidity, store energy, dampen sound, and offer natural fire protection — for a truly pollutant-free, healthy indoor climate.
Three Core Criteria Set Wall Thickness:

1. Energy Efficiency — Best-in-Class Savings
From a wall thickness of 17 cm, wood begins to act as a natural thermal mass. At 36.4 cm, no additional insulation is required — delivering extreme, sustainable savings on heating and cooling costs across all climates. Thermal insulation and heat storage are unmatched.
2. Long-Term Durability
While many conventional building materials must be replaced within a few decades, a Holz100 mass timber building remains stable across generations. Its average service life is considerably higher than that of conventional systems.

3. Cost-Effectiveness
Faire Baukosten, minimale Betriebskosten und keine teuren Ersatzteile. Holz100 ist eine Investition in Beständigkeit – inspiriert von jahrhundertealten Bauwerken aus Mondholz.
And last but not least: the investment in your own health is truly priceless.
